Sinead O'Connor took to Twitter Wednesday to beg her fans to help her find psychiatric help. "Does anyone know a psychiatrist in Dublin or Wicklow who could urgently see me today please?" she twittered. "I'm really un-well... and in danger. I desperately need to get back on meds today."
The "cry for help" (as she called it) came following a reported suicide attempt last week. According to U.K. newspaper The Sun O'Connor told them that she intentionally overdosed on pills last Thursday and then, after being hospitalized for a broken ankle, nearly tried to kill herself again two days later.
So why was the "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer so upset? O'Connor tweeted that it was because life has been hard for her new husband Barry Herridge since the two were married in Las Vegas in early December, subsequently announced their intention to divorce after just 16 days of marriage, and then called off the divorce following a night of "mad love making."
She also took the opportunity to more clearly explain the reason for her near breakdown. "hard if u see someone u love bein hurt cus of u is all," she wrote of Herridge. "f***s self esteem.. which aint always massive for any of us.. anyway thank u all."
It's not the first time O'Connor has taken to Twitter to beg for help at a time of need. Back in September, she tweeted that she wished "suicide wud kill me," though later clarified that the series of tweets that followed were "a cry for help."
