Name of product: Summer Infant Mother's Touch/Deluxe Baby Bathers
The Hazard: When the baby bather is in use, its folding wire frame can come apart from the side hinge, causing the baby to fall out of the bather and putting him at risk for serious head injuries. The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Summer Infant know of seven incidents in the U.S., including five where infants received head injuries.
Description: The recall involves more than 2 million baby bathers sold in the U.S. and Canada at mass merchandise retailers and online sellers from September 2004 to November 2011. The recalled bathers have a blue or pink square plastic base and the following model numbers: 08020, 08050, 08054, 08070, 08401, 08409, 08404, 08405, 08650, 08655, 08659, 08754, 08940, 08944 18004, 18040, 18049, 18050, 18120, 18125, 18129, 18254, 18360, 18375, 18379, 18390, 18394, 18440, 18445, 18449, 18470, 18475, 18479 38510, 38515, 38750, 38755. They have adjustable side hinges, a white metal frame and an adjustable mesh fabric sling seat.
What to do: Stop using the baby bathers immediately and get a free repair kit -- including a locking strap and instructions -- from Summer Infant.
