IN A NUTSHELL: We haven’t seen enough of Sandra Bullock lately so we welcome her back in a cougar comedy about an imperious Canadian-born exec who abuses her assistant (Ryan Reynolds). When she finds she has to get a green card marriage to stay in the United States, becoming her groom becomes another onerous assignment for her buff employee.
FOR YOU: It’s a no-brainer that Bullock’s ball buster will soften and the film will take a final sentimental turn, but it’s clearly an adult comedy that will appeal to mothers. Besides, six-pack carrying Reynolds is easy on the eyes and it comes from a female director—Anne Fletcher (27 Dresses)—that alone is a rare treat!
FOR THEM: Not so much. This is a sharp-tongued romantic comedy aimed at adults.
