Body Acne

Treating acne on the body can be difficult. In addition to whiteheads and blackheads, you may also have pustules and cysts, which are harder to treat. Acne is caused by pores getting blocked with oil and dirt, and can flare because of hormonal fluctuations and stress. It should not be picked or it can leave dark scars on the skin. Mild body acne can be treated by OTC medications, like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, while moderate to severe body acne should be treated by a dermatologist who can prescribe oral or topical medications to help sove the problem. Using glycolic acid washes, clay masques and gentle scrubs on your body are also helpful. Make sure to always sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day to prevent existing acen scars from darkening or making your acne worse.
