Sunburn or Irritated Skin

Anyone, with any skin type, can burn if they stay out in the sun too long, especially on cloudy days when people skip sunscreen thinking the sun isn’t strong. Don’t let those clouds fool you -- those are the times I see the worst sunburns. This mask is also great for rosacea or if you skin is irritated for any reason. Be sure to see your dermatologist if the irritation worsens or lasts longer than a week.

Quick fix: Yogurt-honey soothing mask

Mix 1 1/2 teaspoons honey, the juice from 1/2 of a lemon and 1 small carton plain yogurt. Stir in 1 whipped egg white. Apply to face and let set about 15 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp washcloth and apply moisturizer.

Long–term solutions: Antioxidant serums and annual skin cancer screenings. If you have rosacea, see your dermatologist for a treatment plan.
