The Black Eyed Peas, Usher and Slash (2010)

In 2011, halftime show organizers looked to bring a more current, popular act to Super Bowl XLV in Arlington, Tex. Unfortunately, their choice of The Black Eyed Peas was considered disappointing by many. The Peas are known for their fun, dance beats and auto-tuned lyrics, neither of which translated particularly well to a cavernous football stadium. The Peas started with familiar hits that should have resonated with the event: "I Gotta Feeling" and "Boom Boom Pow." Oddly, Fergie briefly forayed into a rendition of "Sweet Child O' Mine" with a guest appearance by Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash. The Peas then sang "Let's Get It Started," which probably would have made more sense at the beginning of the set. The show was nearly redeemed when Usher appeared from the ceiling to sing "OMG" with and show off his killer dance moves.
