Katie Holmes had a "bad romance," but she's determined to give her daughter Suri Cruise a good education. E! News reports that Katie has enrolled 6-year-old Suri in Manhattan's Convent of the Sacred Heart school, the prestigious academy formerly attended by Lady Gaga.
By enrolling her daughter in a New York City school, Katie, 33, has tacitly confirmed that she plans on raising Suri on the East Coast, far from her Los Angeles-based father Tom Cruise. Although the terms of their divorce settlement are confidential, reports claim that Katie has primary custody, with generous visitation rights granted to Tom.
"Tom was always most interested in his child... His concern was for Suri," Cruise's lawyer Bert Fields told People of the divorce terms. "He will have a meaningful relationship with Suri."
Another of the divorce settlement rumors is that Suri is forbidden from receiving any religious instruction until she gets older. However, Convent of the Sacred Heart is a very Catholic school, where students are required to attend mass every Thursday. Seems clear that Suri will, in fact, be getting religious instruction -- just not in Scientology, as her father might have preferred. (Interestingly, Tom wanted to be a Catholic priest when he was a teenager.)
Speaking of Suri's dad, he wrapped up shooting the sci-fi thriller Oblivion this weekend. On Friday, Tom was caught by paparazzi kissing his co-star Olga Kurylenko, but it was all part of the movie. ("Their chemistry on set is them acting. It's their job," Cruise's rep told Page Six when asked about a possible romance.) Now that his work is done, Tom will presumably get a chance to visit his youngest child, whom he hasn't seen since Katie filed for divorce at the end of June.
"I don't know the details of his schedule, so I can't comment," Cruise's attorney said this weekend. "My guess is he'll be seeing Suri very soon."
