It's Official: Survey Proves Mondays Make You Uglier

Poll shows women feel the most unattractive on the first day of the workweek

There are many reasons to loathe Mondays: Heading back to work. Having to pry the kids out of bed. Feeling ugly.

A new survey finds that Mondays are the day of the week when most women feel the most unattractive. Conducted by PHD, a media planning agency, the findings show 46 percent of respondents feel their worst on the first day of the workweek, citing stress, lack of motivation to look good and the weekend’s exploits as reasons why.

The No. 2 ugliest day? Thirty-nine percent of women say Sunday. We’re guessing Friday and Saturday night’s festivities comes in to play with that answer, too. Curses, to you, second bottle of wine!

So, when do we look our lovliest? According to the PHD survey, it’s Thursdays. Hey, there, TGIF — you’re only a day away!

OK, so Sunday and Monday we feel icky, Thursdays we feel pretty. But time of day comes into play when it comes to feeling attractive, as well, the survey shows.

We’re not surprised to see mornings, specifically between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. rank lowest on the how-do-I-look scale, followed by the hours after 10 p.m. Well, duh. At 7 a.m., we’re all bed head, smudged mascara and morning breath. After 10 p.m., we’re in sweats, glasses and possibly a green facial mask. Not exactly channeling Gisele here.

The times we feel best about our looks? Between noon and 3 p.m. Think lunch hour and coffee breaks have anything to do with that? As for occasions when we feel ugly, the top answers, respectively, include when we wake up, are sick, are sweating, are stressed, are crying or after a long day. Sounds right to us. Depression, anger, worry and loneliness also can affect a woman’s feelings about her looks, the survey adds, unsurprisingly.

We’re sure beauty marketers will look to this info to promote their products early in the week, when we could use a confidence boost. But we’re taking as a sign to just go ahead and boycott Mondays once and for all. Things are looking better already.
