Could there be a new diva headed to Wisteria Lane? In the wake of the news that ABC has cancelled long-running soap opera All My Children, rumors are running wild that the daytime drama's icon Susan Lucci may be continuing her TV reign on Desperate Housewives!
While chatting with PopEater.com about her Tony nomination, former All My Children castmate Elizabeth Rodriguez sort of let the cat out of the bag that Lucci, 64, is reportedly bringing all her fabulousness to Marc Cherry's campy primetime drama.
"She's going to Desperate Housewives apparently. She has a contract at ABC," Rodriguez said of Lucci. "You heard it here first. That's what I heard!"
The New York Post was told by a source at ABC that filming for All My Children would conclude in August and that Desperate Housewives would start their production of the new season in July. But now that AMC films in California, it would be possible for Lucci to do both for the short period of time.
Neither ABC nor Lucci's people have chimed in on the casting news just yet, but wouldn't it be great if Lucci still got to take her infamous character, Erica Kane, to Desperate Housewives? If a seasoned cat-fighter like that crossed their paths, those housewives wouldn't know what hit them!
