Susan Sarandon has said that Jonathan Bricklin is merely a business partner in the SPiN ping-pong club franchise -- but their exotic vacations seem less about business than pleasure! Back in April, Sarandon, 63, took Bricklin, 31, on a South American getaway to Machu Picchu. And on Monday, Sarandon and her ping-pong partner Bricklin were spotted shopping in coastal Italy, after attending a nearby film festival together. Sarandon and Bricklin have also been spotted around New York together in multiple hot spots, with not a ping-pong table in sight.
Sarandon, of course, has a history of dating younger men -- most notably Tim Robbins, 51, whose relationship with Sarandon ended last summer after 23 years. But other than the age gap, Sarandon's new relationship seems very different from her longtime romance with Robbins. She and actor-director Robbins were united by their shared passion for politics and liberal causes. While they were a couple, the pair collaborated on serious message films like Dead Man Walking, and campaigned together for Presidential candidates Ralph Nader, John Kerry and John Edwards, as well as contributing to the anti-war effort. But with Bricklin, newly-single Sarandon seems to be letting her hair down and just having fun. Rather than saving the world, their mutual interest is ping-pong, which Sarandon admits is "completely dorky." She doesn't seem to care what anyone thinks about her new hobby or her way-younger man friend -- she's just doing what makes her happy.
A few other things that no doubt make her happy: she'll soon be appearing at the Emmys, where she's nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the Dr. Kevorkian biopic You Don't Know Jack. And on Monday, it was announced that Sarandon will play a theater director on the upcoming star-studded HBO pilot The Miraculous Year, about a Braodway composer balancing his crazy job with his crazy New York family. But it's only a recurring role -- so she should still have plenty of time for ping-pong and romantic getaways!
