Expert review: Made of bent Birch, the compact, non-foldable Svan high chair has a unique, modern design. The chair’s impressive-looking, but the trial-and-error assembly process takes a long time. To find the perfect seat height, you need to assemble and tweak once your kid’s sitting in the chair. The Svan tray is easy to clean, but the detachable, clear plastic tray cover takes away a bit from the design and can be hard to snap on and off. Similar to the Stokke Tripp Trapp, the Svan high chair caters to an infant but expands into a school age and adult chair, too. The Svan doesn’t come with wheels or padding under the legs, so it’s possible that it could scratch a hardwood floor.
Why we love it: Modern design; adjustable height positions; versatile; long lasting.
What we wish it had: Cheaper price; removable tray; easy assembly; folding mechanism; flexiblity; better-quality screws.
Great for: Parents looking for a modern high chair to grow with their kids.
Bottom line: If you have the space to keep it out, the Svan is an eye-catching, durable investment piece.
What our parent tester thought:
"You have to put the Svan together, and then put your kid in it to get the right fit. That said, this is one of the positive aspects -- it’s highly adaptable."
"If you don’t have a very strong grip, it’s hard to remove the plastic tray cover. This is very frustrating, annoying and painful."
"We position it at the table with a plastic tarp underneath and really don’t move it from this location."
