Take Me Away

“Two of my favorite designers, Tory Burch and Trina Turk, seem to capture the spirit of the perfect getaway in every piece of resort clothing they create. Typically a little exotic, a bit bohemian, and slightly preppy, their pieces alone are enough to make me want to book a vacation. Luckily, I can always get my ‘take me away’ fix by designing a table around the idea. You can too."

For this serene, beach-inspired look, Atlas found inspiration in a favorite bolt of peacock fabric. She hung the cloth behind the table to create a big visual impact without having to worry about spills or stains. While shades of blue are the main colorway, you’ll notice there aren’t any blue foods on the table because it’s not an appetizing color. Instead, stick to treats in shades of green, like the Key lime bars, lime pops and vanilla cupcakes. One visual trick: Atlas says that evenly spacing all of the elements, from the navy-wrapped vases to the four-tiered cake to the smaller desserts, creates an appealing, uncluttered look.
