Talk About the Decision

While you may not plan to become vegetarian yourself, discuss why your child has made the choice. Is it peer pressure? Is it her belief in animal rights? What does she know about vegetarianism? “Talking about her motivation can help you understand how committed she is and what she will eat,” says Sheth. For example, some kids may be vegan, which means they don’t eat any animal products, like eggs and dairy. A vegan diet requires even more thoughtful meal planning to make it nutrients- and calcium-rich.
