Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong is reeling after learning of her estranged husband's apparent suicide.

"Taylor Armstrong is devastated at the tragic events that have unfolded," her rep tells Us Weekly in a statement. "She requests privacy at this time so that she may comfort her young daughter [Kennedy, 5]."

LAPD officials confirmed Tuesday that Russell Armstrong, 47, was found hanging in the bedroom of his Los Angeles apartment, and he was pronounced dead at 8:16 p.m. Monday night.

Taylor's statement says that her "thoughts and prayers" are with "Russell's 11- and 13- year-old sons" from previous relationships. The Bravo reality star filed for divorce from her husband on July 15, citing physical and verbal abuse.

Though Russell was obviously going through some very trying times, those close him never suspected he was having suicidal thoughts.

"He was so angry about everything," a good pal told Us Weekly. "But never did anyone suspect he would kill himself."

"Russell was dealing with a heavy amount of emotional and familial distress," another source said. "His life was in shambles."
