After his infamous Playboy interview, it became clear that John Mayer likes to dish about his former flames. He had no problem revealing personal (and somewhat offensive) details about Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson -- but now he might be getting a taste of his own medicine!
Rumors are flying that one of Taylor Swift's new songs is about romance gone awry with Mayer. While the two, who collaborated on the song "Half of My Heart" never officially admitted they'd been involved, Swift's track seems to imply that they were ... and that it didn't end pretty!
The Yahoo! Music blog reports that the song "Dear John" has some telling lyrics about the relationship. The first chorus of the song reads: "Dear John/I see it all now that you're gone/Don't you think I was too young/To be messed with/The girl in the dress/Cried the whole way home/I should've known."
The track continues with: "It was wrong/Don't you think nineteen's too young/To be played/By your dark, twisted games/When I loved you so."
The six-and-a-half-minute song also includes the lyrics, "You’ll add my name to your long list of traitors who don’t understand/And I’ll look back in regret I ignored what they said/’Run as fast as you can."
But is it possible that it's just a big coincidence and the song off of the upcoming record Speak Now (which also features songs, about another ex-boyfriend, Taylor Lautner, and her VMA win hijacker Kanye West) isn't actually about the 32-year-old singer-songwriter? Maybe not. During an interview with Yahoo!, Swift, 20, opens up about using men as inspiration. "Every single song is like a road map to what that relationship stood for, with little markers that maybe everyone won't know, but there are things that were little nuances of the relationship, little hints," says Swift, who has previously written songs about being scorned by former beau Joe Jonas. "And every single song is like that. Everyone will know, so I don't really have to send out emails on this one."
Swift's highly anticipated new album Speak Now, which includes the juicy "Dear John" track, will be released on Oct. 25.
