Taylor Swift was, once again, the big winner at Sunday night's American Music Awards. The pop-country superstar, who also won big at the CMAs last week, looked shocked as she beat out competition including Adele, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga for artist of the year.
"This is one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me," the 21-year-old singer, who also won artist of the year in 2009, told the audience at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre. "Thank you to the fans. Please, never change."
Swift also won her fourth consecutive title as best country female artist and snagged a best country album award for her 2010 release Speak Now.
"I ended up writing the record by myself, so the fact that you would honor it this way, you have no idea what this means to me," Swift said after her country album win.
In other highlights from the night, amicable exes Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony each performed but not together at the AMAs. J.Lo wore a barely there costume when she took the stage to sing a sexy medley of her hits "Until It Beats No More," "Papi" and "On the Floor" with a little help from rapper Pitbull. With her provocative outfit and onstage shimmying, she was a tough act to follow, but Anthony performed moments later with his pals Pitbull and Lil Jon to sing "Rain Over Me." Lopez also returned to perform the duet "Hard" with Will.I.Am.
And, fresh from dealing with his paternity ordeal, Justin Bieber got the audience in the Christmas spirit with a performance of "Mistletoe," the first single off his new holiday album Under the Mistletoe. He memorably returned during the finale act featuring party rockers LMFAO to dance with Redfoo and SkyBlu.
Kelly Clarkson, meanwhile, poked fun at the rumors speculating about her love life (and sexual orientation) with a memorable performance of "Mr. Know It All." Actors dressed like paperboys shouted "Is she gay? Is she straight? Why is she still single?" before Clarkson took the stage. Then she appeared and blew the audience away with her song.
