It sounds like Amber Portwood won't be going home for the holidays.
The troubled star of MTV's Teen Mom was arrested in central Indiana Monday after a judge issued a warrant for her arrest for violating the terms of her probation on felony domestic battery charges.
Portwood, 21, had been serving a two-year suspended jail sentence for assaulting Gary Shirley, her ex-fiance and the father of her 3-year-old daughter Leah.
According to a Probation Department report obtained by Indiana's Herald Bulletin, Portwood had become "a danger to herself and to society; therefore (she) should be taken into custody." The report sited the reality star's suicidal tendencies (she allegedly tried to kill herself in June) and abuse of prescription medications as the reasons for the recommendation that she be arrested.
Indeed, on Friday -- the same day she was involved in an auto accident -- Portwood missed a scheduled meeting with her probation officer. And, when two probation officers visted her at her home later that afternoon, Portwood appeared to be under the influence of a "mood-altering substance."
And that wasn't Amber's first infraction. A notification of probation violation was filed Nov. 23 after Portwood reportedly got in a drunken altercation at a restaurant. And she was also accused of failing to obtain her GED and attend anger-management classes -- two court-ordered stipulations of her probation.
The report orders Portwood to be held at Indiana's Madison County Jail without bail until her arraignment Jan. 13.
