Due to the recent scandal surrounding Tiger Woods, the golfer has announced that he will not be appearing at the Chevron World Challenge this week, which was his last scheduled competition for the year.

On his Web site, Tiger claimed to be backing out due to the injuries he sustained in Friday's mysterious car wreck. "I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week," he posted Monday. "I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I'm very sorry that I can't be there."

"We support Tiger's decision and are confident the strong field and excellent course will provide an exciting week of competition at the Chevron World Challenge," said Greg McLaughlin, Tiger Woods Foundation President & CEO. Tiger and his wife, Elin Nordegren, have yet to address rumors that the golfer had an affair with nightclub hostess Rachel Uchitel (which she denies) – or if those allegations had anything to do with his post-Thanksgiving car accident.
