It looks as though troubled golf superstar Tiger Woods has at least one lady on his side. Woods, 34, who has been at the center of a media firestorm surrounding his many extramarital affairs (which he publicly apologized for recently), just got an image boost from his college girlfriend Irene Folstrom.
Folstrom has penned an exclusive for Golf.com about Woods, whom she dated during her time as an undergrad at Stanford in the '90s. "Tiger was a great boyfriend," wrote Folstrom, who was in a relationship with Woods for about a year and half.
She also noted that she's surprised by the revelations of habitual philandering: "The Tiger I knew was loyal, devoted and self-controlled. I’m not naive, but I can say with certainty that he was faithful during the time we dated. The speculation that he's being treated for sex addiction is surprising because we enjoyed a normal sexual relationship."
Besides dishing on some of their dating rituals (they liked getting Chinese food and going to the beach), Folstrom had some telling things about Woods' behavior. "Tiger had an ability to shut things out and compartmentalize his emotions," she wrote. "Even back then he felt enormous pressure to be Tiger Woods." She added that maybe the affairs were "his form of escape."
Sounds like this is one woman who knew a very different man than the one Elin Nordegren is dealing with these days! We have to wonder what Tiger's wife thinks of this ex's recollections.
