Tiger Woods seems to be coming out of hiding about his alleged affairs.
This morning UsMagazine.com posted a voicemail they say Woods left for a possible mistress, and shortly thereafter, Tiger himself made what could be interpreted as a mea culpa statement.
"I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart," the statement on Tiger's Web site begins. "I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family."
In his Web post, which is titled "Tiger comments on current events," Woods never addresses directly the various allegations about those transgressions or who they may have involved, but it seems more than coincidental that his comments should come so quickly after the offending voicemail hit the internet.
The message that hit the internet was one Tiger left for his supposed "off-and-on girlfriend," a 24-year-old cocktail waitress named Jaimee Grubbs.
"Hey, it's Tiger," he says at the start of the message. "I need you to do me a huge favor. Can you please, uh, take your name off your phone? My wife went through my phone and, uh, may be calling you. So if you can, please take your name off that, and uh, just have it as a number on the voicemail. Just have it as a telephone number. You gotta do this for me. Huge. Quickly. Bye."
In this week's issue of Us Weekly magazine, Grubbs reveals extensive details about their alleged 31-month-long affair. Among those details are photos and "more than 300 racy text messages."
"I loved how we got along," Grubbs says in the Us article. "But I knew, in the back of my mind, there could never be just us. There would always be the wife, or somebody else."
Tiger's wife is mentioned indirectly his statement, and he says many times that he wants to keep this story between him and his family.
"I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves," Tiger writes. "For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology." \
