Hit the stores when your kiddo is apt to be in his best mood of the day. For most kids, morning hours are better than late in the afternoon. Regardless of when you shop, try to keep to your child's regular schedule as closely as possible, breaking for lunch and snacks as you would normally. And steer clear of your baby or toddler's witching hour -- that period when he's cranky, whining and when all hell can break loose (and usually does). Don't set foot out the door anywhere near that time, no matter how urgent your errand may seem.
