Gasp! Is that Liz Lemon wearing handcuffs and a cleavage-baring dress on the cover of Esquire? Tina Fey's bad-girl photo shoot is a departure from the self-deprecating persona Fey usually projects, and fans have certainly never seen her look this much like a sex symbol. With her new look and upcoming comedy Date Night, the Emmy winner is on a wild ride, indeed!
Still, the 39-year-old mother says she nixed many of Esquire's wilder photo ideas. "The idea of the photo shoot is something like my wild night out," the 30 Rock star explained. "The irony being that I don't do that. I got an e-mail [from Esquire] with a list of the potential setups, and my e-mail back was like, Well, I need to decline being handcuffed to a bed. I won't straddle anyone. I won't make out with a cop."
Fey, whose daughter Alice turns 5 in September, said that she might have considered crazier poses in her childless days, but now, "I'm a mom. And my kid's going to find this someday. I don't want to be handcuffed to a bed in Esquire. What, are you nuts? I'm not going to make out with a cop that I'm handcuffed to. I got to get my kid into kindergarten."
The photo spread does include shots of Fey drunkenly standing on the table at a dinner party, wearing her Louboutins in the bathtub, and riding a hotel luggage cart. Although she looks fantastic in a series of tiny black dresses, the humble comedienne dismisses the notion that she's "the thinking man's sex symbol."
"There's no such thing," she joked to the magazine. "The thinking man also wants to f*ck Megan Fox."
