Tinsel Your Tresses

Go glam this holiday season by adding sparkle to your hair

Tinsel for hair? What will they think of next? The new trend is all the rage with celebs like Beyonce, Ke$ha and Aubrey O'Day rocking these metallic highlights in their luscious locks. Just in time for the holidays, we think the style makes for a perfect party look. And really, what girl doesn't like a little bling?

Want to give tinsel a shot? Here's what you need to know... It's semi-permanent and totally affordable. There are also many fun colors to choose from. Go bold with fuchsia, lime green or aqua blue. Or, stay natural with browns and coppers, like Beyonce. You can apply the shiny extensions yourself or have them done at a salon. Some strands can be attached by tying it in little knots to your real hair, while others require heat by flat iron to attach to your real hair.

We're loving the new DIY kit by Glisten ($24.99 at Mica Beauty). The tiny crystals come in five sparkly colors and wash right out. So don't worry -- you won't return to the office looking like a disco ball.
