Does “Would you like to come up for a nightcap?” lead immediately to you thinking, Did I leave out my underwear? Are there dirty dishes in the sink? You can avoid this post-date/pre-make-out panic with some quick prep as a “just in case.” So, while you’re primping, spend a little time polishing and priming too! Chore number one: “Pick up any laundry ‘droppings’ and throw them in a hamper or laundry bag that you can tuck into a corner or closet,” says Sara Welch, author of Pretty Neat: The Buttoned-Up Way to Get Organized and Let Go of Perfection. “You want his focus to be on you -- and the bed -- not on picking his way through piles of dirty clothes.” If you forego other pre-date prep steps, this is the one not to skip -- it only takes about 60 seconds but has a huge visual payoff. And men are visual creatures.
