'Tis better to give ...

Another way to make family gift giving fun is to involve the whole family in one project. Have each person make a Christmas ornament for each other family member (in secret). Throughout Christmas Eve, each person tries to sneak into the room with the tree and hide his or her ornaments around the tree. Then on Christmas morning, after all the presents have been opened, everyone takes a turn trying to find all his or her new ornaments. The ornaments can be labeled with each name or can be thematic. Your soccer player might find a soccer-ball ornament; your ballerina, a pair of slippers;, and Daddy, the Net-surfer, a tiny computer.

Whatever you choose for your kid's gift-giving ideas this year, remember, make it fun to give. The better their giving experiences are, the sooner they will realize that it really can be better to give than to receive.
