If you missed this morning's Today show, you missed one amazing Halloween special. Rockefeller Plaza was transformed into a Star Wars set -- and the hosts were transformed into the lead characters of one of the most successful movie series of all time.
Many of the costumes and set pieces were the ones used in the original George Lucas saga, but most impressive were how the stars of Today literally morphed into Star Wars' familiar players:
Al Roker did a bang-up job as a wisecracking Han Solo.
Meredith Viera was Princess Leia, complete with Carrie Fisher's trademark double-bun hairdo.
Ann Curry played the role of Darth Vader, and was the last to reveal her identity from behind the black mask and asthmatic voice distortion.
Matt Lauer emerged from a giant "x-wing fighter" spaceship as Luke Skywalker.
Kathie Lee was hidden behind the golden C3-PO robot getup and his high-pitched, bumbling voice.
Natalie Morales donned the real Queen Amidala costume worn by Natalie Portman in the Star Wars prequel, Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
Hoda Kotb was perhaps the least recognizable, most transformed member of the Today show talent. She was covered in green makeup to resemble Yoda (or, as Matt referred to her, "Yoda Kotb").
The Today staff was surrounded by many of the most famous Star Wars characters, including Chewbacca, R2D2, tiny Ewoks, and Storm Troopers.
Head over over to the Today show site for slideshows of the cast getting into costume, stories about the Star Wars stunt they pulled and videos on the behind-the-scenes work that went into the Halloween special.
