There are TV shows that make me wish I was a better parent. I’m no Caroline Ingalls, June Cleaver looked much better in an apron than I ever will, and I can’t even come close to that mom on 7th Heaven. But then there are shows like Toddlers & Tiaras, which remind me that -- while I’m not a perfect mom -- my parenting skills could be much, much worse.
Toddlers & Tiaras has aired plenty of moments that have made us cringe in horror. Tonight, we'll get to add one to our list of moments we love to hate most:
"They dressed her as... a prostitute."
Sweet little Paisley struts to Roy Orbison wearing a trick-turning getup that's just like the one Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman. The Beverly Wilshire Hotel is in the backdrop, natch. One mom comments, "I would never, ever do that to my little girl."
"When she wears the fake boobs and the fake butt, it's an added extra bonus!"
Little Maddy, age 4, prances in a routine wearing a Dolly Parton costume complete with "enhancements" that -- get this -- belonged to her mom when her mom did kid beauty pageants.
“No, don’t do my eyebrows!”
A little girl screams with fear and pain when having her eyebrows waxed. Her mom’s response? “Normally, I would just hold her down and … ripped it off.”
“Yeah, Mia. Work it!”
What is 2-year-old Mia working? Why that's a gold cone bra a la Madonna!
“I can do whatever I want to.”
Treat a child like a diva and she'll act like a diva. Maybe Mackenzie’s list of hobbies should also include talking back to her mom.
