Mary Lee Mapother South, Tom Cruise's mom, has always been her famous son's rock. The former single mother left an abusive husband and moved her children to another state to raise them in a happy home. Ever since, the megastar has regarded his mom as a source of strength. "My mother finally had the courage to stand up to my dad and go, 'No more! I'm not taking it,'" Tom told Parade in 2006. "I saw how my mother created [her life] and made it possible for us to survive." Nowadays, Mary lives with Tom and Katie Holmes in their Hollywood estate, where she can keep a close eye on her grandchildren—and even take time out for a red carpet or two with Tom.
