Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise might have had Hollywood's fastest divorce, but apparently it wasn't rough enough for both of them to stop speaking to one another indefinitely. According to sources, the former A-list couple is still on speaking terms, albeit for a very good reason.
A source tells People that Cruise, 50, and Holmes, 33, are "still talking" and are trying to create a "civilized routine" for their 6-year-old daughter, Suri. So far that's included spending plenty of time with them separately post-split, but that could be changing soon.
"They are both going to do what's best for Suri," the source says.
Suri has school coming up in September, which means the fun vacations she's had over the summer with her two acting parents will come to an end. We've seen Suri and Holmes busy exploring Manhattan, while her father has taken her to places like Disney World and the Hamptons to keep himself in her life.
But both actors have been on break now, and that will soon be coming to an end. Holmes will begin prepping for her Broadway performance in Dead Accounts, while Cruise is likely headed to the set of All You Need Is Kill soon. That means it will take a concerted effort from both parties to make sure Suri's life remains stable and consistent.
Part of handling that included enrolling Suri in a Catholic school instead of continuing to home school her as they had in the past. People reports that Cruise was fine with the decision to switch Suri's schooling methods.
"Tom dearly loves Suri, and the last thing he would ever do is abandon her," his lawyer Bert Fields has said in a statement.
