In the spring of 2005, Tom Cruise and former Dawson's Creek star Katie Holmes met, hit it off immediately and began a whirlwind romance. Their first date was said to be a sushi dinner aboard Tom's private plane and later that month, the pair were first spotted together in April 2005 publicly holding hands in Rome.
