Tone Down Rosy Cheeks

Problem: Rosacea, a condition that causes skin redness, flushing, and sometimes visible blood vessels, acne-like bumps and enlarged pores

Solution: Choosing the right color foundation

Look for products that say “fights redness” on the label, and that seem visibly more yellow than pink in the container. Yellow neutralizes redness in the skin, for a finish that seems to make rosacea symptoms disappear. Start by applying moisturizer with an SPF 15 or higher, because sun exposure worsens rosacea. Use a brush or cosmetic sponge to apply a yellow or green-based concealer to affected areas and follow up with a thin layer of foundation. Go lighter with the foundation on your cheeks if you want to let some of your “natural blush” come through. Avoid lipsticks and eye shadows in pinks, reds and blues because they highlight the redness of your skin. Instead, choose warm tones, like brown, gray and olive green eye shadows, and lipsticks with brown undertones.
