Fall movie season is in full swing, and one of the most talked-about performances comes from a surprising actor: Tony Danza! The former Who's the Boss? star plays Joseph Gordon-Levitt's father in JGL's directorial debut, Don Jon (opening today). Danza, 62, is one of the highlights of the edgy comedy, about an online porn addict (Gordon-Levitt) who tries to give it up for the girl of his dreams (Scarlett Johansson). You can check out both guys for yourself in the clip below. (Warning: strong language and heavy Jersey accents.)
As it happens, fall 2013 is turning out some truly fantastic celebrity comebacks. Beyond Danza, here are 5 other stars we're pleased to welcome back to the screen.
Michael J. Fox
The Family Ties and Spin City star has returned to sitcom land with The Michael J. Fox Show on NBC. It's his first starring TV role since going public with his Parkinson's disease, and it's about, yes, a man coping with Parkinson's.
Another of the season's most buzzed-about performers is Oprah, returning to film for the first time in 15 years in Lee Daniels' The Butler. She's already getting Oscar buzz, because of course she is.
He'll always be "Bill Nye the Science Guy," but for now, he's also Bill Nye, Dancing with the Stars contestant. And we do mean "for now;" as cute as he is in a bow tie, he chose science over ballroom dancing for a reason.
Before Anne Hathaway, Michelle Pfeiffer was Catwoman. She's been gradually returning to the spotlight over the last few years, and this fall, she re-embraced her mob movie beginnings in the comedy The Family.
Here's another actress who's been under the radar for far too long. We'll see her on the third season of American Horror Story this October, playing voodoo priestess Marie Laveau.
