chime in nowTony Scott, the director and producer responsible for such memorable films as Top Gun, True Romance and Crimson Tide, died on Aug. 19 from an apparent suicide after jumping from a Los Angeles bridge. He was 68. According to the Los Angeles Times, a suicide note was later found in his office. The following day, ABC News reported that Scott had been suffering from inoperable brain cancer. The younger brother and producing partner of Gladiator director Ridley Scott, Tony was known for being an action-thriller specialist who worked several times with actors such as Denzel Washington and Tom Cruise. In addition to his brother Ridley, the British-born filmmaker is survived by his third wife Donna and their twin sons, Frank and Max.
