Last week, Heidi Klum made her split from Seal even more official by starting to erase her tattoo dedicated to him. Sad as we are to see Heidi and Seal's love (literally) fade, this fashionista isn't the first to undo the body ink deed.
Whether it's the evidence of a former flame, a symbolic drawing or a downright dumb decision, Heidi joins the ranks of these other celebrities who've regretted their tattoos -- and attempted to get rid of them.
1. Heidi Klum
Fame/FlynetTattoo: Ex-husband Seal's name, with one star for each wedding anniversary. The initials of their children are in the stars.
When did she get it? May 2008
When did she get it removed? June 2013
Why? After filing for divorce from Seal in April 2012, Klum is making the split as official as can be. But only part of the tattoo is going away. "The stars with her children's initials will stay intact," a source told People.
2. Angelina Jolie
Steve granitz/wireimage; Fame/FlynetTattoo: The name of ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton, accompanied by a Chinese dragon.
When did she get it? 2000
When did she get it removed? 2005
Why? Although Angie and Billy Bob made their love quite public (including wearing vials of each other's blood around their necks), the tattoo was removed shortly after their split. It was replaced with the geographical coordinates of the locations where Angelina's children were born. "I'll never be stupid enough to have a man's name tattooed on me again," she said at the time.
3. Marc Anthony
james devaney/wireimageTattoo: "Jennifer," for ex-wife Jennifer Lopez.
When did he get it? Circa 2007
When did he get it removed? January 2012
Why? New love, new tattoo! After his split from J.Lo in 2011, it wasn't long before he covered his wrist tat with new ink -- for his new girlfriend. Debuting a Statue of Liberty tattoo where Lopez's name once resided, Anthony tweeted, "A mi @Shadelima mi estatua de libertad. Besos bebe," to then-girlfriend, model Shannon de Lima ("To my @Shadelima my statue of liberty. Kisses baby"). The couple has since split.
4. Johnny Depp
Barry King/WireImageTattoo: "Winona Forever," for ex-girlfriend Winona Ryder.
When did he get it? February 1990
When did he get it removed? 1993
Why? After the split, the tattoo removal was inevitable. But the handsome actor didn't erase everything -- just the last two letters of Winona's first name, leaving the tat to read, "Wino Forever."
5. Megan Fox
kevin mazur/wireimage; frazer harrison/getty imagesTattoo: Marilyn Monroe's face
When did she get it? 2007
When did she get it removed? 2011
Why? After realizing the turmoil that Monroe experienced in her life, Fox decided she didn't want that image associated with her body. "I'm removing it. It is a negative character, as she suffered from personality disorders and was bipolar," she said. "I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life."
6. Pharrell Williams

When did he get them removed? 2008
Why? After deciding he no longer wanted his body covered in art, Pharrell underwent a new removal system, similar to skin grafting. "These guys actually grow the skin for you," he said. "First, you have to give them a sample of your skin, which they then replicate. Once that’s been done, they sew it on -- and it’s seamless." To each his own, we suppose!
7. Kelly Osbourne
Imeh Akpanudosen/Getty ImagesTattoos: 15
When did she get them removed? 2010
Why? Although some of Osbourne's tattoos hold special meanings, she felt many of her designs were mistakes. "As you get older, you realize that you don't want to be defined by your tattoos, because that's not the type of person that I am," she said.
8. 50 Cent
kevin mazur/wireimageTattoo: Too many to count
When did he get them removed? 2010
Why? As his acting career took off, 50 Cent removed several of his arm and back tattoos for behind-the-scenes ease. "It cuts down on the amount of time I have to spend in makeup covering them up," the rapper said of the laser removal process.
9. Tommy Lee
Jemal Countess/WireImageTattoo: A swastika symbol
When did he get it? 1996
When did he get it removed? 1998
Why? After allegedly assaulting a Jewish photographer, who was deeply offended by the tattoo, Lee had it taken off. "The swastika was not a reflection of Mr. Lee's views," his lawyer said at the time. "Instead it was simply a stupid tattoo obtained several years ago. ... The tattoo was insignificant to Mr. Lee, and he eventually removed it."
10. Mark Wahlberg
Fame/FlynetTattoo: Bob Marley's face
When did he get it? 1990s
When did he get it removed? February 2012
Why? Like 50 Cent, Marky Mark wanted to cut down on time in the make-up chair -- and teach his kids a lesson about inking themselves. "I don’t want my kids getting tattoos," he said. "I’ve taken my two older kids to the procedure so they see how painful it is and what I have to go through." That's definitely tough love!
