'Top Chef' Menu to Include 'Desserts'

What’s a meal without dessert?

Top Chef is creating another spinoff, Top Chef: Just Desserts, which will feature pastry chefs competing against each other, similar to the original series.

The series will air sometime in 2010 and Bravo hasn’t announced a host or judges for the show yet.

Auditions got underway on Monday in Chicago and will also take place in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, New York, Las Vegas, Portland and Washington, D.C.

"[The] Achilles heel is usually the desserts," said Bravo executive Vice President Frances Berwick of the contestants on Top Chef. "As this has gone on, we've been thinking that it would be fun to do a Top Chef with experienced pastry chefs. We've had a few pastry chefs on Top Chef, but they haven't gone too far. It's just a different skill."

Just Desserts will be the third show in the Top Chef franchise, with Top Chef Masters receiving a second season last week. Between the three shows, you can now get your Top Chef fix all year long.

Bravo's new sweet treat will face stiff competition from Food Network’s Ace of Cakes and TLC’s Cake Boss, but it's likely will the established Top Chef fan base will tune in.
