And the winner is...SALEISHA! Hooray! The most boring season of Top Model has come to an end!
So the episode starts out with Jenah being completely negative, which is never a good sign. Maybe she's one of those people who thinks that the more negative she is, the more positive the outcome? Guess that didn't work this time.
Our three finalists, Chantal, Jenah, and Saleisha, meet Jay for their last challenge! The have to shoot a national print ad and commercial for CoverGirl Wetslicks Fruit Spritzer Lip Gloss—say that five times fast. Cycle 8's winner, Jaslene, shows up while the girls get ready and tells them how life her has changed since winning.
Chantal starts things off. Jay tells her that she seems like she’s reading her lines, and it’s coming across as “too dumb model.” She quickly recovers. Jenah has a hard time getting her lines out. Jay says they should use cue cards, but she pleads for one more take, and does much better under the pressure. Jay comments that he’s afraid people will misread Jenah’s insecurity for bitchiness. Saleisha seems to have confidence like none other, but once she’s in front of the camera, she loses it. She gets more frustrated with each take, and by the seventeenth, decides to take Tyra’s advice and takes a break to cry it out. She comes back cuter than ever!
At panel, Tyra tells the finalists the last two girls will “stomp to the death” in designer QI Gang’s fashion show. Then she asks each girl who they think has the most and least potential. Obviously, each girl picks themselves as having the most potential, but when it came to the least, Chantal and Saleisha both pointed to Jenah. Chantal goes so far as to say that Jenah is “not the person she’d want her little sister to look up to.” This hits Jenah at the core—as it should! She says she doesn’t have to be super bubbly and cute in order for people to look up to her. When Tyra asks Jenah why she puts up the attitude she has, Jenah breaks down and explains that acting as mom to her little sisters has toughened her up. The entire panel thinks this is a breakthrough moment for Jenah.
Although the judges felt like they broke some ground with Jenah and that she had the some of the strongest photos in ANTM history, they like Saleisha and Chantal best and send Jenah home. Chantal and Saleisha go on to meet with Seventeen Editor-in-Chief Ann Shoket to snap photos for their possible spread in the magazine.
Later, Chantal and Saleisha battle it out on Qi Gang’s runway. They strut around in big fancy dresses amidst a bunch of men on stilts. The girls both do well, until Chantal’s dress gets caught under one of the guys’ stilts and he falls to the ground. She stops and thinks about going to check on him, but continues on.
At panel, Tyra announces the prizes for a final time—a modeling contract with Elite Model Management, a cover shot and six-page spread in Seventeen magazine, and a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics.
After going through some of their old photos, the judges critique the girl’s on their walks earlier that day. Miss Jay, whose afro is the size of a small country, says Chantal wasn’t owning her walk like Saleisha was. Twiggy says that Saleisha looks like she’s been on the runway her whole life. Tyra thinks Saleisha moves her booty and shoulders a little too much, and Chantal’s body looks fantastic in clothes, but she is too stiff. In the end, Saleisha takes home the grand prize and can’t stop gushing about how all her hard work paid off.
