Pregnant or not, Tori Spelling looks great in a bikini. And she thinks so, too!
The Craft Wars star, who is now pregnant with her fourth child, became the subject of some online criticism earlier this year, when she showed off her growing bump in some revealing two-pieces. In a new post on her blog, the actress defends her right to flaunt her pregnant bod and encourages other women to be "bump proud."
"I have to say, I’m super proud of my bump," writes Spelling, 39. "Why should I be embarrassed and cover up something that’s the greatest gift a woman can experience? A pregnant woman in any shape or size is beautiful! Pregnancy is an amazing journey and we preggers should be able to show it off. I call it BUMP PROUD!"
Spelling illustrates her point by posting some recent beach shots of herself rocking sexy swimwear, as well as a new bikini pic (left) with the words "bump proud" scrawled across her belly.
"Plus, we are hard at work baking a baby," she adds. "It’s not easy! It’s tough. We have aches and pains and things happen to our bodies we never imagined, so we should have the same right -- if not more -- to dress how we want without judgment."
Spelling calls out several critics who claimed that her poolside fashions were inappropriate for a mother of four -- and some were particularly harsh with their opinions. ("Ewww. She’s pregnant! Cover that bump up! No one wants to see that!!" says one commenter whom Spelling quotes in her post.)
But the former Beverly Hills 90210 star has just one word to say to those people: "Please."
"I’m making a conscious choice to show my daughters that they can express themselves and be proud as a woman of their bodies," she writes. "I don't ever want them to think that they should be ashamed of or self-conscious of their bodies, no matter what shape it's in."
Spelling is the mother of Liam, 5, Stella, 4, and Hattie, 10 months, with husband Dean McDermott. She is expecting her fourth (and probably last) child in September. So what will she do with all those bikinis when she's done growing her family? They'll stay in her closet; according to her blog, they're the same ones she was wearing before she was pregnant!
