Tori Spelling's New Son Got a Family Name -- We Love It!

It's a boy! Tori Spelling announced that her son Finn Davey McDermott was born yesterday at 5:39 p.m. on her web site, EdiTORIal. And while she and hubby Dean McDermott didn't find out the sex of baby number four -- a surprise pregnancy -- ahead of time, Tori went on the record saying she thought it was a boy, and it turns out her mama-instinct was right on. So we're not surprised that they had a great boy name ready to go, and we think their choice is adorable!

Finn is an old Norse name meaning "one from Finland" and ranked 304 on the Social Security Administration's list of popular baby names in 2011, up from 835 in 2000. So it fits that cute-but-not-too-popular sweet spot that we love. (There'll probably be another Finn in this boy's kindergarten class, but not four.) Tori may have even had some fun with numerology on this one: Finn has four letters, and is the fourth child. (Liam, Dean and Tori all have four letters, too!)

As for the middle name? It turns out that Davey is actually Tori's middle name and comes from her paternal grandfather, making it a great nod to her family, and the name's source is a Hebrew expression meaning "beloved" and is a nickname for David, which can mean "darling" or "hero." What's not to like about that? (Plus, it's interesting to note: Finn is the only Spelling-McDermott kid who has a last name as a middle name!)

More importantly, Finn fits nicely with the rest of the Spelling-McDermott clan's names: Stella, Liam and Hattie. Short and sweet! So welcome baby Finn –- and congratulations to Tori and the entire family.
