chime in nowIf your kids' toys look anything like our kids' toys -- lots of scuffed-up plastic and missing pieces -- you may have a tough time envisioning them doubling as nursery decor. But this year, that's exactly what they'll do. Whether retooled, reimagined or just repackaged, toys are being transformed into things of beauty in kids' rooms across America. (Yep, even that mountain of matchbox cars.) The secret, say top designers like Cortney Novogratz, co-star of HGTV's Home by Novogratz, is to group similar items together. Think lego bricks in a glass lamp, matchbox cars attached to the wall by color on magnetic paint, action figures spray painted gold and glued to the base of a lamp, dollar store plastic animals painted and made into book ends, door pulls, clothes hooks or even mounted on canvas or mirror frames. It's instant gorgeous wall art -- for cheap!
