chime in nowWe've all had bad trips. But sitting in a plane on the tarmac for an hour is nothing compared to these terrible travel nightmares. From TSA agents who view a toddler as a national threat to frantic emergency room visits to the awesome wrath of Mother Nature, here are 12 stories of family vacations gone very, very wrong.
A Real Eye-Opener
When we were at the airport on our way home, I went to buy two diapers at an overpriced shop. On my way back to the gate, I heard a wail. I knew it was one of mine, I just wasn't certain which one. When I got to the gate, my husband had our then-five-year-old daughter on his lap, clutching his sweater to her eye. When he took his hand away, I saw that her eyelid was split straight across underneath her eyebrow. She had been running around the empty gate with her brother and tripped and fell into a chair. The paramedics determined that she would need stitches and said that she might start bleeding again midflight due to the pressure change, but ultimately we decided to go home. We went straight to the hospital from the airport, arriving there around midnight. After a seven-hour wait, she received seven stitches. As a frequent traveler, I thought I was prepared for anything, but I was not prepared for this!--Corinne of Have Baby Will Travel
