Treat Yourself to a Massage

For an easy at-home spa treatment that will leave you feeling pampered and truly relaxed, give yourself an acupressure facial, says Jessica Wu, M.D., a Los Angeles-based dermatologist and author of Feed Your Face. “I learned this technique from my mom, who just turned 70 and looks 50.” Before you go to sleep lie back with your eyes closed, Dr. Wu says. Using medium-firm pressure, press down above your inner eyebrows and hold for three seconds, then release for three seconds. Repeat five times. Do the same at your temples, then above your lip on either side. Take deep breaths the whole time, breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. “For extra relaxation, use a drop of lavender essential oil on each temple before doing your acupressure. Lavender has been shown to help reduce stress and improve sleep. Skip this step if you are sensitive to fragrance.”
