Katy Perry and Russell Brand have both adamantly denied rumors that their marriage is in trouble. But here's something the couple can't deny: they spent Christmas on opposite sides of the globe. Us Weekly claims that Perry, 27, had originally planned to fly her family to Brand's hometown of London for Christmas, but changed her holiday plans after a "massive fight."
"She was like, 'F*** you. I'm going to do my own thing,'" the magazine's source colorfully explains. "Russell replied, 'Fine, f*** you too.'"
A source at E! News also says that Perry and Brand have been having "problems" since early December and are spending "a lot of time apart," including the Christmas holiday.
On Dec. 25, Perry was photographed splashing in the waters of Hawaii wearing a tiny bikini (and no wedding ring). Meanwhile, Brand was photographed in Cornwall, England, where he reportedly joined friends at a pub and participated in a charity swim. So why the holiday split?
The sources at HollywoodLife.com claim that the couple is fighting because they're at "two very different places in their lives": Brand wants to settle down, while Perry wants to keep stoking the flames of her very successful career. Us Weekly says that Katy thinks Russell isn't respectful enough of her parents and friends, while Hollywood Life says that Russell is having trouble staying clean while Katy is dashing around the globe on concert tours.
As for the couple themselves, they've been quite insistent that their relationship is just fine. Earlier this month, Perry shot down divorce rumors on Twitter ("First I'm pregnant and then I'm divorced. What am I All My Children?!"). The same week, Brand assured Ellen DeGeneres that the rumors were rubbish, calling the internet "a wicked little liar."
"I am really happily married...'Perpetually, until death do us part' was the pledge," said Brand on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "I'm still alive."
And despite their report, Us Weekly doesn't seem to be betting on a divorce. Says one of their sources: "The split may come soon, but they are both so dramatic and volatile, the relationship could become great again."
