Upsetting news stories, dramatic crime shows, or the antics of late night talk show hosts can set your mind and pulse racing. Instead of watching TV, try curling up with a good book, which can be more calming. Dr. Lombardo also suggests “meditation, prayer or mentally replaying a pleasant experience, which helps relax the nervous system.”
