We often make resolutions based on what others think which can cause us to eventually ditch them and go back to doing what we actually want to do, says Lois Barth, a human development coach and trainer. If you pick a goal that's genuinely about who you are, it offers a sense of real satisfaction, says Barth. For instance, if you’re painfully , you may want to overcome your introversion because it stops you from meeting new people. A goal or resolution based on what you wantmay take awhile before it becomes integrated, but it can offer real fulfillment, she says.
