Can New York Set A Record For the Most People Twerking At Once?

Were you hoping twerking was over? It's not.

Twerking, for those blessed few people still unfamiliar with it, is this:

And if, like us, you've been hoping it would crawl off into the woods never to be seen again, you are fresh out of luck. The new dance craze across America (or at least across media outlets) has spawned all sorts of vines, entries into the Oxford dictionary, hate letters and more. Now, it's about to spawn a world record.

New Orleans "Bounce Queen" Big Freedia is taking to New York City's Herald Square in an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for most people twerking simultaneously. Big Freedia's goal is 250 twerkers (just typing "twerker" makes our spell check want to explode), though any relatively large number will suffice as, surpisingly, this record has not yet been recorded by Guinness.

The event will take place on Wednesday, September 25th at noon, so if you want to be in a part of history (a loose phrase at this point) get yourself over to Madison Square Garden and shake your stuff. Just make sure you stretch beforehand, because that could be a difficult injury to explain.
