With their screen presence, talent and rock-hard abs, Hollywood's A-list actors have no problem bringing in audiences to the theaters. But it's actually the men behind the scenes who are making the biggest bucks.
This year, movie mogul Tyler Perry tops Forbes' list of the highest-paid men in entertainment. Perry produced five films and two television shows in the past two years and pulled in an impressive $130 million in the 2010-2011 fiscal year.
Perry also appears onscreen in many of his films -- though you might not recognize him out of character; he's usually seen in drag as his tough-talking, wise-cracking alter ego Madea. But Perry will show his masculine side as the titular detective in the upcoming thriller I, Alex Cross, due out in 2012.
The 42-year-old tycoon not only writes, acts, directs and produces, but he also has plans to start his own network, ala his mentor and good friend Oprah Winfrey, Forbes reports.
Next on the list are fellow multi-talented filmmakers Jerry Bruckheimer and Steven Spielberg, who scored $113 million and $107 million, respectively. Elton John, the only musician to make the grade, landed in fourth spot after earning a cool $100 million this past year. And rounding out the top five is reality television's King Midas, Simon Cowell.
Besides Perry, the only other actor to rank is Leonardo DiCaprio, whose psychological thrillers Shutter Island and Inception helped him earn $77 million. To see the full list, check out showbiz' most moneyed men on Forbes.com.
