While we're mourning the end of Ugly Betty, whose series finale aired Wednesday night, there still may be something to look forward to -- like a big-screen version! According to Betty star Anna Ortiz, we may be seeing that Guadalajara poncho at the theater in the future.
"There may be a movie,” Ortiz told Latina.com. “It’s something that we’ve been talking about and it’s something that America Ferrera would really love to do. That woman has so much determination that I can’t imagine anything she puts her mind to not getting done.”
As for Ortiz, she's totally on board with reprising her role as Betty's older sister, Hilda.
“Ugly Betty has been the most important thing I’ve ever done, easily,” she says. “I was able to do more with one character than I can ever imagine doing again — Hilda was hilariously funny and emotionally deep.”
Ortiz says getting her role on the ABC show was a defining moment in her life. So much so, that before snagging it, she had almost given up on ever making it as an actress.
“For my life, the show has meant so much," she says. "I have an entirely new family. I have the financial security that I’ve never had before. [Laughs]. And I have confidence in myself: It helped me realize that acting is truly where I’m supposed to be and that I can do this.”
