September 11, 2001, a date, and an event, that will be imprinted in all of our minds forever. The ParentsPlace community has joined together on the In the News message board, the Blessings message board and the Light a Candle message board to support each other during this very challenging time:
I have only one world in which to bring my children into. I will give to my children my need for laughter, and I will bestow upon them the longing of my spirit. I will empower them with my belief that the sun will always rise to a new day with endless dreams. I will give to them my thoughts and ideas, new and old. I will challenge them to rise above sorrows and to discover new paths of advancement. I will assure them that they are an integral part of the earth and a desperately needed piece of the circle. And I will give them love. I will give them all I have. And most importantly, I will give to this world, my children. And, as proof of what my Mother and Father gave to me, I know that this will be enough.
Shattered dreams, once vibrant, instantaneously quieted -- a moment of quiet horror captured by a nation's gasp.
A shock, a pain, a nightmare, suddenly changing to steely resolve -- a conglomeration of humanity becoming united in one cataclysmic blast.
Patriotism and loyalty resurging growing stronger, a palpable force -- fear quieted, while strength awakens a light of new dreams born from the dark!
Let's not forget the fallen the brave heroes and grief-filled faces -- yet we must be careful to keep our humanity, lest the terror becomes a piece of our soul...
You can take our buildings, you can take our people, but you cannot take the one thing that keeps America proud and strong. You cannot take our freedom.
As the smoke clears in New York City and Washington D.C., the tears we have shed clear the debris to reveal a single monument still standing in New York harbor. Lady Liberty, her torch thrust high to the heavens. Her face, as somber and determined as her people, still says to all of us, "We will not be broken.”
