Uterine Adhesions: What Possible Problems Might This Pose?

I am pregnant and have had severe abdominal pain. During the ultrasound, my obstetrician noticed an adhesion. It almost looks like two separate sacs. What possible problems might this pose?

Question:

It sounds more like an amniotic band, which is of little consequence unless it is attached to the baby. If it is, there can be some trapping of the baby or cord, so they may want to look from time to time. More typically, it does not present a problem.

A real uterine adhesion would be on the outside of the pregnancy and usually causes the uterus not to expand well. This can bring on labor early. If it is a uterine adhesion, then you should be on the alert for signs of preterm labor.
