The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Bugs might make you squirm, but it's hard for anyone not to love this red-headed larva with quite the appetite. The Very Hungry Caterpillar -- a classic children's book with artist Eric Carle's collage-like illustrations. Constructed on the same die-cut board pages as when it was first introduced nearly 40 years ago in 1969, this all-time favorite follows the ravenous path as he eats his way through one apple (and the pages of the book itself) on Monday, two pears on Tuesday, three plums on Wednesday and so on. The perfect book for babies and preschoolers, it not only follows the caterpillar's growth from egg to cocoon to beautiful butterfly, but it also teaches counting, days of the week and good nutrition.
